ICC ODI World Cup Qualifiers: Nepal’s Qualifying journey has come to an end

Kathmandu – Nepal has been kicked out of the ICC ODI World Cup qualifying round after its group stage run. As a result of their 7-wicket loss against the Netherlands in the World Cup qualifier on Saturday, Nepal was unable to advance to the “Super Six” round.

The top three equation of the group has been solved with Nepal’s defeat. The teams who advanced to the Super Six from Group ‘A’ included Zimbabwe, West Indies, and Netherlands. America and Nepal were kicked out of the group stage.

Nepal chose to bat first in their previous game despite losing the toss. Only 167 runs could be scored by Nepal in 44.3 overs since no batsman could play quickly. The Netherlands responded by reaching the score while taking 3 wickets in 27 overs.

While Bikramjit Singh scored 30 runs, Max Odawood played the Netherlands’ longest inning, scoring 90 runs. Similar to this, Bass de Lied played a 41-run innings without giving up. Sandeep Lamichhane and Gulshan Jha each grabbed two wickets for Nepal.

Prior to that, Nepal’s first-inning batter, captain Rohit Poudel, scored 33 runs while Kushal Bhurtel added 27 runs. Similar to how Bhim Saraki scored 22 runs while Kushal Malla was out for 12 runs. When Dipendra Singh Airi scored 14 runs as an additional double score, Gulshan Jha was out for 15 runs. Sandeep Lamichhane had a similar fate, being out for 27 runs.

Logan van Beek got four wickets for the Netherlands, and Bikram Jeet Singh and Bas the Lead each took two. Aryan Dutt and Clayton Floyd both claimed one wicket.
