The Bagmati Provincial Assembly has approved a budget of Rs 66.93 billion for the fiscal year 2026/27. According to *The Rising Nepal*, the allocation prioritizes development, with 65.69% (Rs 43.97 billion) earmarked for capital expenditure.

Current expenses account for 34.31% (Rs 22.96 billion). The budget, presented by Economic Affairs Minister Prabhat Tamang, was passed by majority in the Appropriation Bill and unanimously in the Finance Bill. The new fiscal year begins on July 17, 2026.

Funding sources include Rs 30.15 billion in tax revenue, Rs 15.31 billion in federal transfers, and Rs 12.76 billion in projected savings. Chief Minister Indra Bahadur Baniya stated the budget is pro-poor, focusing on food, shelter, and clothing for the needy.
