Nepal’s Ministry of Finance, led by Dr. Swarnim Wagle, has published a report on achievements during the first 100 days of Prime Minister Balendra Shah’s administration. According to *The Rising Nepal*, the government implemented significant legal and economic adjustments.
To address rising global fuel prices and tensions in West Asia, authorities reduced customs duties and infrastructure taxes on diesel, petrol, and kerosene by 50%. Additionally, the income tax exemption threshold was raised to Rs. 1 million, and Permanent Account Number (PAN) services were expanded.
The report highlights the repeal of 15 laws and the abolition of the Department of Revenue Investigation. Officials also amended the Financial Procedures and Fiscal Accountability Regulation 2077 to delegate spending authority to ministry secretaries.
A major financial crime investigation involving alleged fraud exceeding Rs. 110 billion was conducted, with a money laundering case filed in court. Several new bills, including the Economic Bill and Public Debt Bill, were presented to Parliament alongside amendments to customs and tax regulations.
