Koshi pradesh

The Koshi province government and the identity advocacy organizations taking part in the initiative have begun negotiations for the renaming of the province.

Following the formation of a committee to engage with the Koshi provincial government on Sunday by the united struggle committee for the re-nomination of Province No. 1, the talks took place. Talks have now begun between the agitating parties and the government in Biratnagar after the provincial government requested that the identity group, which has long disagreed with the name of the province, come to an understanding through negotiation.

The identity party is represented by Gobind Angbung, Yuvraj Rai, Rambhakta Kurumbang, Lakpa Sherpa, Gelje Sherpa, Kumar Lingden, Ramesh Rai, etc. The state government is represented by Bhakti Sitaula, Sajik Prasad, and Ministers of Industry, Agriculture, and Cooperatives and Infrastructure, Tilkumar Mayangbo. Participating is Development Minister Buddhikumar Raj Bhandari.

The proponents of identity are demonstrating on February 17 and calling for re-nomination on the basis of identification after the State Assembly altered the name of the province to “Koshi.” The demonstration also resulted in the death of one individual.
