Nepal’s Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal stated that the country seeks balanced relations with India and China, emphasizing economic diplomacy based on national interest. During his visit to India from June 5-7, 2026, Khanal held discussions with Indian officials S. Jaishankar and Ajit Doval. This marked the first high-level meeting since Nepal’s new government formed in March. Khanal highlighted that economic cooperation was the focal point of the talks, noting that bilateral mechanisms have been activated as a result of his official visit.
