The government of Nepal has presented a Rs 2.1 trillion ($13.8 billion) budget aimed at stabilizing the economy through infrastructure, technology, health, and education. According to Citizen Digital, the announcement marks the first 100 days of Prime Minister Balendra Shah’s administration.
Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle stated the nation is at a “decisive crossroads” regarding economic reform. This spending plan is part of a 100-point reform agenda focusing on governance, anti-corruption, and digitalization, with approximately 70 measures already implemented.
Prime Minister Shah emphasized his administration is on a “highway to change” during a recent party meeting. The budget addresses economic grievances that fueled 2025 youth protests, seeking to modernize the economy and ensure sustainable growth.
